A delightful example of an Arts & Crafts, Anglo Catholic Revival, Bishops ring c.1910.
The form echo's the octangular plan of the Dome of the Rock in Jerusalem.
Depicted in Byzantine style are two enamels, one showing a saint possibly St Matthew. The other enamel depicting the Holy of Holies as described for Herod's temple in Jerusalem.
Other decoration on the ring shows organ pipes (music to the glory of God) & a stylized representation of the Holy Spirit.
